Green Gallery

Two things are happening here I am posting some images of green things and I’m using you as a guinea pig to test out a flash gallery.  Thank you for your unwitting cooperation.  The thing is I have thousands of images on my blog and mostly they get mentioned and then fade away as I post even more.  So after the suggestion of Nikhil Ramkarran to have my prints grouped together I’ve decided to create some galleries starting with my acll phone pictures.  The first effort in that pursuit is to present the images of  this blog post using a gallery that I created in Lightroom.

If you click on the image bellow you will be presented with a flash gallery of green’ness.  The point of this is that it will allow me to easily control and update my galleries through Lightroom without needing to do anything with my blog.

I realize that by doing this I am currently excluding iPhone users but that is an Apple issue not mine, I can’t tailor my site just to suit one handset, sorry maybe in the iPhone 6.

UPDATE  before I even posted this I have created the gallery for my cell phone images which can be found under links on the right.  Cell Phone Image Gallery

Painting progression

I really enjoy seeing how other people paint and the different states that a painting has.  I sometimes take pictures while I’m painting and thought I would share this one.  As you can see I did do some thin under painting in order to get the elements in place.  I followed this with heavier direct painting and then finally some more details like the scratches on the clear plastic.  Also you can see that I completely re-located the word MONTH.

Dancer II (The next stage of painting)

I took some time to continue working on the dancer painting and I am pleased with the way it is coming allong.  I will work on the hands next and also take another look at the background.  The feet will also need work.wkoopmans-00588

Dancer Underpainting

I have been doing alot of photography lately so it was a nice change tonight to put some paint on a canvas.  I have done a full colour underpainting for this image and if I had more time I would likely keep right on painting until it was finished.  Taking a step back though will give me a chance to look at it in a fresh light  and to see where it will need the most work and corrections, which can be done directly without much fussing.dance_underpainting

The Horse in the Snow composition plate

Well that’s an unwieldy title for a post.  So I have transferred the composition to the plate as a rough drawing, however I do not intended to fuss over the actual dry-point drawing either as I want it to remain somewhat free and spontaneous, at least in the details.

So the next step will be to do the drypoint drawing as time allows.
